teaching-learning, a process or a "result"?
I think most of us agree that teaching-learning is process, a continuous process, yet many times I see that the success of teaching-learning is merely seen from the result. It is undeniable that result is important as one of sources to analyze a process of teaching-learning, make necessary changes to make a better teaching-learning in the future, but if it is taken as the only point that can show how successful or failed a teaching-learning is, well, somehow I just can't agree on this. Besides, the way we see the result many times also affects our students. Students are "more confident" when they are able to "compare" their answers in a test to their friends'. Our national or local newspapers reported that teachers gave the answers to the students during the national examination just to make sure that all students pass the exam. One question that has been bothering my mind is when the students get 80, 90 or even 100 for their paper examination, does it (the result) really reflect the students' academic achievement? Then again, this is only my thought.
